Huawei to launch Celia, its own voice assistant, in France from 2020

Huawei announces the arrival of Celia, its own voice assistant, in France in 2020. Already used on the Chinese market, the intelligent assistant should first make its debut on the brand’s smartphones. In a second step, artificial intelligence should replace Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa on all of the manufacturer’s devices, including connected speakers.

As announced by Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s mobile division, in November 2018, Huawei will teach Xiaoyi new languages to export it internationally . To prepare for Celia’s arrival in France and in the rest of the world, the firm has established an exclusive partnership with Qwant , Google’s rival search engine. Celia is therefore expected to rely on Qwant’s research results to answer your questions.

Collateral victim of the trade war between China and the United States, Huawei is no longer authorized to integrate Google services and applications on its smartphones. Private from the Google Assistant , we therefore expect the Chinese firm to integrate Celia on the future phones of its catalog under AOSP, the open source version of Android. Ultimately, Celia should also land on the Sound X, the premium speaker developed with Devialet .

Unsurprisingly, we imagine that the voice assistant will be added to Harmony OS, the alternative to Android developed by Huawei . As a reminder, the OS will be deployed on the group’s connected objects from 2020. Harmony OS is however not yet ready to supplant Android on a smartphone , the manufacturer recently admitted. We will tell you more as soon as possible.
