SGS and Swisscom Advance in the Internet of Things

The Geneva certification specialist and the telecom operator inaugurate an IoT competence center in Spain with Microsoft and Vodafone.

 

The SGS and Swisscom groups have teamed up with US IT giant Microsoft and British operator Vodafone for a project in Spain. The partners inaugurated a global center for the Internet of Things (IoT) in Madrid. The amount of the investment is not specified.

The Madrid center will develop solutions based on IoT technology for the digitization of inspection and certification tests (ICT), said Gene Wednesday SGS. The fields of agriculture, health, energy or industrial production could benefit.

SGS says it wants to contribute to the establishment of connected cities (smart cities).

The digitization of ICT is booming, boosted by the 20% annual growth of the Internet of Things market, says the world leader in inspection and certification.

IoT makes it possible to connect objects, places or even cities to the Internet.
