Librem 5, the Linux smartphone that is desired

The release of the Librem 5 under PureOS is still a little behind. It was postponed until the third quarter of 2019. Purism finally set the period during which its device will be marketed.

The previous report was closely related to the discovery of bugs during preliminary tests. The failures have been noticed in the management of the CPU energy. The latter is provided by NXP.

The designer was forced to make a choice between the i.MX8M Mini and the i.MX8M Quad. NXP has offered Purism the i.MX8MQ which is a new software stack. This allowed to correct the problems of overheating and energy consumption. The configuration of the Linux smartphone has been completely updated to meet the needs of the customer.

 

The wait imposed on the customers will necessarily bear fruit. The technical complements will allow the Librem 5 smartphone to be up to date. The operation of the new smartphone is with the PureOS operating system . Arrangements have been made to ensure a better focus on security, the perfect control offered to users and the real protection of confidentiality. Hardware switches are provided. They will end wireless communications, photo sensors and the microphone.

The new masterpiece will have a 1.5GHz iMX8M Quad processor, an internal memory storage capacity of 32GB eMMC, a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch HD display, a Wi-Fi, a bluetooth 4, USB-C for recharging and the Gemalto PLS8 modem is 3G or 4G modem.
