Is Huawei’s Petal search a rival to Google Apps or Google itself?

Removed from Google’s Android application store, the Chinese manufacturer has developed an alternative tool to still install the most popular American applications. With Petal Search, go Google Maps or Instagram on Huawei despite the ban. The interesting fact is that the Petal search is a complete search engine instead of a simple app gallery.

Impossible is not Chinese. Even if for a few months, the new Huawei smartphones no longer have the right to use the consumer version of Android , as well as the Play Store, the corresponding application store, the Chinese manufacturer has found the solution. Simply called Petal Search, the tool makes it easy to search for apps that are not available in the AppGallery home app store. The small widget, small thumbnail, similar to what exists on Android smartphones, will search for the rare gem thanks to third-party stores. The trick is in the APKs it uses, a kind of digital toolbox that allows you to collect the files needed to install an application on Android.

So the Petal Search trick is already pre-installed on the new series of P40 smartphones released last spring during the lockup. “Consumers should be able to access the services they want,” says Peter Gauden, Huawei’s product director, while talking about this thorny issue. “For example, you can also access YouTube through their website,” he adds.
