Technological innovations have changed how people exercise and manage their nutrition plans. With the development of new mobile applications, people are no longer just interested in knowing their height, weight or waist circumference.

They also want to know more about their daily progress, calorie and food Marco consumption, sleep quality, heart rate, body fat percentage, calories burned, etc. These technological innovations have not only come in handy for the avid gym-goers but also for the regular people who intend to keep fit and have active lifestyles.
An example of how fast technology evolves is how the introduction of music, video, and eventually WIFI to gym equipment in the 90’s and 2000’s became revolutionary.

The consumers’ attention was captured and now it’s hard to imagine equipment such as a treadmill, or a stationary bike, without the latest infotainment system. Check out some of the latest gym equipment, reviews, nutrition plans, entertainment news and get to learn from certified professionals in fitness and nutrition.

Modern technology has also been used to influence food choices. Various devices are being used in food retail outlets, homes, and even restaurants to provide feedback based on the consumers’ food selections. This has proven to immediately alter their food choices.

Research has shown that 76% of adults probed claimed that they were trying to take healthier diets at eateries compared to their selections 10 years ago. Phones and such other portable devices are fitted with scanners that scan into a bar code that has nutrient information. They then give a cumulative report on the daily consumption of the nutrients. These gadgets can be programmed with an individual’s nutrient requirements which makes tracking personal.

Some devices such as the bodybugg which is a small portable device, determine the energy consumed through the day using a movement detector, heat flux sensors, skin temperature, and galvanic skin response.
It uses sophisticated algorithms to calculate and report overall energy expenditure, the number of paces, duration of sleep, and other factors and is generally 90% accurate.

It becomes motivating and exciting when people receive this feedback about themselves. As they continuously check on their devices to calculate the calories burnt, they like to check on themselves throughout even when they’re not working out. Let’s look at some of the ways technology has changed the fitness and nutrition industry.

Fitness Wearables
These track an individual’s metrics as they exercise which plays an important role in that person’s fitness journey. They record data such as calories burnt, heart rate, distance covered in a jog or walk, and the data is stored in your phone since they’re both synced.
These devices come in the looks of armbands or wristbands and they have since gained a lot of popularity. These days phones and smartwatches possess these features.

Mobile Applications
There is a saying that goes “there’s an application for everything” which is true. Mobile applications have brought smartphone usage to another height and are providing people with an experience they haven’t had before.
One such experience is with fitness applications which range from diet trackers to exercise guides.
People are seeking to download all in one fitness and health applications that give holistic information such as fitness metrics, diet, and nutrition schedules, and help them shop for fitness-related goods. Many fitness centers and sports brands have since embarked on their fitness applications.

AI and IoT
As the demand for fitness devices keeps increasing, tech-savvy brands are now announcing AI-enabled device technology. This technology is made to improve functionality, improve consumer experience and provide instantaneous feedback while guiding the user towards improved fitness decisions.
AI-supported CRM software has brought a good advantage to gymnasiums and has helped them better their operational efficacies, customer conversions, and personalization.
The IoT technology has also made it easy to track the personal progress of every participant in a group activity and helps design training solutions as per their unique requirements.

Conclusion
In summary, all this cutting-edge technology has revolutionized the physical fitness and nutrition industry but to reap maximum benefits, it is advisable that you seek the guidance of a qualified professional.
The intensity of exercise is arguably the most critical part of the activity and failure to meet the minimum threshold results in a lack of the training effect. Overexercising may also impact negatively on the intended effect of the training regime but all in all, technology plays a crucial part in fitness and nutrition.

Liverpool completes its exceptional year by winning its first Club World Cup https://icdst.org/blog/index.php/2019/12/22/liverpool-completes-its-exceptional-year-by-winning-its-first-club-world-cup/ https://icdst.org/blog/index.php/2019/12/22/liverpool-completes-its-exceptional-year-by-winning-its-first-club-world-cup/#respond Sun, 22 Dec 2019 10:18:14 +0000 https://icdst.org/blog/?p=834

Liverpool won the Club World Cup for the first time in their history, beating Flamengo 1-0 after extra time on Saturday in Doha.

Winners of the Champions League , the European Super Cup and current leader of the English Championship, the men of Jürgen Klopp thus conclude against the Brazilian club a superb year 2019. Two finals lost in the old Intercontinental Cup in 1981 (against … Flamengo) and 1984, one in the Club World Cup in 2005. The Reds had a very upset relationship with this competition, which however often smiled at the teams of the Old continent. Until the 99th minute of this fourth final against the stunning winners of the Copa Libertadores and the recent champions of Brazil.

Unconvincing, especially in the first period, the men of Jürgen Klopp were delivered from their curse by a late goal from Firmino, perfectly served by Mané, after a masterful counter.

Winners of the Champions League, the European Super Cup and undisputed leader of the English Championship with 10 points ahead, Klopp’s men thus conclude a superb year 2019.

The Mersey club suffered indeed against a Brazilian team made up largely of former boarders from European clubs.

Three chances from the first five minutes: the European champions first gave the illusion of a one-way match. But after the resumption over Firmino and the strikes next to Keita and Alexander-Arnold, the Reds did not show much. Like Salah and Mané much too discreet.

In front of a majority audience made up of Flamengo supporters, it was enough to hear the whistles rising in the stands of the Khalifa stadium in Doha shortly after half an hour of play.

VAR offer

The second period fortunately offered more spectacle. From the 47th minute, Firmino found the right amount of goals for Diego Alves, the former Valencia goalkeeper. Flamengo responded with “Gabigol”, whose strike forced Alisson to relax (54′).

Worried in the game, the English then lost Oxlade-Chamberlain, hit an ankle and replaced by Lallana (75′).

After this heavy blow, the men of Jürgen Klopp reacted thanks to Salah, author of a goal canceled for offside (77 e ), then by Sadio Mané, sharper and at the origin of a counter concluded by a long shot of Henderson under the bar deflected with the tips of the fingers by the Brazilian goalkeeper (86 e ).

As we headed for overtime, the VAR invited themselves into extra time (90 + 2). Launched in depth, Mané was hooked by former Bayern player Rafinha. The referee whistled for a penalty for the Reds, and then canceled his decision after viewing the video, the foul having been committed outside the area. No penalty, but no free kick either, much to the chagrin of the English players. And here is 30 min of additional time…

Clumsy in the 1st minute, unhappy in the 47th, Firmino did not tremble in the 99th to win his head to head against his compatriot Diego Alves and sent the Reds to the roof of the world.

Liverpool 2:0 Tottenham in 2019 EUFA Finale https://icdst.org/blog/index.php/2019/06/02/liverpool-20-tottenham-in-2019-eufa-finale/ https://icdst.org/blog/index.php/2019/06/02/liverpool-20-tottenham-in-2019-eufa-finale/#respond Sat, 01 Jun 2019 21:59:09 +0000 http://icdst.org/blog/?p=688

After two totally crazy races, Tottenham and Liverpool were in the totally British finale of the UEFA Champions League on 1 June 2019 in Madrid. The opportunity for the Spurs to put their name on the list of winners for the first time in their history and for the Reds to win a sixth trophy and get back on the podium behind Real Madrid (12 titles) and AC Milan. (7 titles).

And what start of the match! After only a few seconds of play Sadio Mané gets a penalty on a hand from Moussa Sissoko. Mohamed Salah is in charge of transforming it and allows Liverpool to lead from the second minute. The rest of the first period is quieter, despite some dangerous chances from the Reds.

After the break, it’s Tottenham’s turn to put pressure on Alisson Becker’s net. The Brazilian goalkeeper  saves his team on several occasions including a free kick from Eriksen in the 83rd minute. But in the 87th minute, Belgium’s Divock Origi sealed Liverpool’s victory with a shot from a corner trouble.

Liverpool FC have won the sixth UEFA Champions League (or European Champion Clubs’ Cup) in their history. The Reds are now out of Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona (5 titles) and are closer to AC Milan (7 titles) and Real Madrid (13 titles). This is their first European trophy since 2005.

“It’s amazing, we did it all together. I have not quite understood about the moment but I will never forget it. It was important for us, for the club, for the city. Now you have to enjoy. ”
Divock Origi

“It’s always painful to lose a match of such importance. We played with our principles, our values but we were a little too shy. We woke up in the last fifteen minutes. ”
Hugo Lloris

Barcelona (5) vs (1) Real Madrid: An XBox like El Clasico match ended for Barca https://icdst.org/blog/index.php/2018/10/28/barcelona-5-vs-1-real-madrid-an-xbox-like-el-clasico-match-ended-for-barca/ https://icdst.org/blog/index.php/2018/10/28/barcelona-5-vs-1-real-madrid-an-xbox-like-el-clasico-match-ended-for-barca/#respond Sun, 28 Oct 2018 17:53:55 +0000 http://icdst.org/blog/?p=586

Today Barcelona won against Real Madrid in a match that was more like an XBox game than one of the Laliga matches. Camp Nou, the legendary Barca stadium hosted a game that was shameful to Real players as they only could score one goal and receiving 5. Barcelona wins the El Clasico against Real Madrid with a hat-trick by Luis Suárez – who scored at 29′, 74′ and 82′, and the goals of Coutinho (10′) and Arturo Vidal (86′). Marcelo’s goal, which was 2-1, put the whites in the game, but ended up thrashed (5-1). A result that leaves very touched to Lopetegui and disappointing to Zidane who left a kingdom with three late UEFA cups to him to rule.

The absence of Lionel Messi was not felt at all this Sunday afternoon at Camp Nou. Dominating from start to finish, the Barcelona have humiliated the Real Madrid already on the edge of the precipice, winning by the score of 5-1, by Luis Suarez’s hat-trick. From the 11th minute of match, Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring on a perfect service from Jordi Alba by the left wing. Twenty minutes later, “El Pistolero” Luis Suarez doubled the penalty spot (30′) after a foul on a Raphaël Varane tackle in the box.
The clásico holds its “new world” and, at first glance, it was less dreaming than the old one. For the first time in eleven years, neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Leo Messi (who have shared the Ballon d’Or since 2008) were on the pitch. While the first makes the joys of Juventus, the second belly wounds of an elbow injury. But this Sunday, Barça did not need his star to afford a triumphal walk home (5-1), as Real Madrid was friable and unrecognizable.
Led 2-0 at the half hour mark, the Madrilenians did not hold, despite a beautiful reaction of pride just after the break. But at the end of the match, the Catalans played with a hat-trick of Suárez and a last goal from Vidal . Barça is back with a blaze of La Liga and is already 7 points clear of Real Madrid, a sad 9th in the league. Back on a match full of intensity, in all likelihood the last of Lopetegui on the bench of Real.

THE SUMMARY. Half an hour of play, already 2-0!
From the kick-off, Barça, pushed by his public, monopolizes the ball (64% in the first 10 minutes). If Benzema offered the first opportunity (a missed cover, 7′), it is Jordi Alba who dynamite the defense and offers Coutinho the first goal of the match (1-0, 10′). Despite strikes from Bale and Ramos captured by Ter Stegen (13 th , 27′), Real Madrid is in great suffering.
Just before the half-hour mark, in the penalty area, Varane hustles Suárez who gets a penalty thanks to video assistance. The Uruguayan took advantage to score his 5 th goal of the season in the league, another goal (2-0, 30′) and trigger the anger of Courtois. Barça rolls out and the opportunities rain: an exceptional center of Alba that Suárez misses (37′), a shot unscathed Rafinha (42′) and a final aborted counterattack (45′) before the break. The Madrilenians, jostled as ever, return to the locker room with their heads down.
The reaction of pride of the Real was not enough
But Real has the resource. Lopetegui, however much decried (see below) decides to launch Vásquez instead of Varane. Five minutes later, Vásquez is precisely the initiative of a cold-blooded action by Marcelo, which reduces the gap (2-1, 50′). The men of the “White House” put pressure, Modric is the post (56′), Isco could have sought a penalty (54′) and Benzema sees his country hits (57′).
The match racing and opportunities multiply: Suarez also faces the pole (61′), Pique prevents arming his shot Isco (62′), Alba narrowly missed part of recovery (64′) like Benzema of the head (67′). The French Dembélé then comes into play (74′) and it was he who launched Sergi Roberto. The lateral is patiently Suárez who with a powerful head sign a doubled (3-1, 75′). The Camp Nou ignites and the Uruguayan, decidedly untenable, adds a new goal thanks to an unstoppable pitched ball (4-1, 83′). The end of the match turns to the correction: Vidal resumes a Dembélé center (5-1, 87′) and the pigeon wing of Suárez is opposed by Courtois (90′). Barça are triumphing as Real Madrid concedes its third consecutive loss in the league, a first since 2009.
THE QUESTION. Why is Lopetegui still Real coach?
“Is there life for you after the clásico? “Asked a journalist Julen Lopetegui Saturday at a press conference. More than ever, the successor of Zidane is threatened, while Real Madrid has only one win in its last seven games. Three technicians hold the rope to succeed him: the Italian Antonio Conte, the coach of Belgium Roberto Martinez or that of the reserve of Real Madrid, Santiago Solari. But none is unanimous, the first for his relations sometimes tumultuous in the locker room, the second because he is at the head of a selection and the third for his lack of experience. But the scenario of this clásico will certainly push the Madrilenian leaders to react and quickly.
THE NUMBER. More than 500 million viewers!
The kick-off was given at 4:15 pm sharp on the Camp Nou lawn. It was 11:15 am in New York, 12:15 pm in Buenos Aires and 11:15 pm in Hong Kong, and there were many people from all over the world following the meeting. More than 500 million viewers were expected behind their television, making the clásico the most watched club match around the planet. A figure that should be more important this Sunday since the meeting is broadcast free on Facebook in eight countries in South Asia, including India and its 1.3 billion inhabitants. Finally, note that 93,000 privileged people followed the match from the stands of Camp Nou.
THE NEXT MATCHES. Waiting for Atlético-Barça!
In the coming weeks, the two flagship clubs of La Liga will face both affordable teams in the league: Valladolid, Celta Vigo, Eibar for Madrid and Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis for Catalans. However, they will move on the turf of Atlético Madrid for a shock expected on November 24. Finally, in the Champions League, the two clubs will find on their roads two Italian clubs: Inter for Barça (6 November) and AS Roma for Real Madrid (27).
